Anyone can sell merchandise, but it takes a certain individual and personality to execute this successfully and understand the importance of being approachable, communicating with Managers, accounting, and maintaining organisation. Merchandise is an essential part of any show, and this area should be taken as seriously as any other aspect of touring. At the end of the day much of a bands income is from merchandise, so surely you want someone who can bring in as many sales as possible…?

As a general outline Purple Tour Management can offer you the following; although not limited to:

  • Ordering and liaising with merchandise companies directly to organise tour stock
  • Selling at shows and displaying merchandise attractively in order to maximise sales
  • Organising stock effectively
  • Suggesting appropriate pricing relevant to which country the show is in
  • Producing professional merchandise labels (prices, posters, etc…)
  • Updating Manager’s and merchandise suppliers on stock levels, sales, etc…
  • Organising the merchandise area to coincide with possible meet & greet / signing sessions
  • Liaising with Security regarding signing sessions, and ensuring safety is top priority
  • Using a credit card machine / iZettle to offer payment options (machine to be supplied by the band / merchandise company)
  • Completing the relevant documents for accounting and establishing stock levels
  • Completing legal documentation for declaring merchandise
